← Cowbrook House, Cowbrook Farm and Cowbrook Avenue
A reconstruction from the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map of the 1890s. Footprints are traced from the map; the mill's sizes and storeys come from the 1898 sale catalogue, via the Hargreaves 2018 report for the Derbyshire HER.
Guesswork: the houses' heights, roofs and windows, the lean-to along the mill, and the boiler and engine house sizes. The ground falls about 4 m to the brook, from the map's spot heights. "1936 layout" adds Cowbrook Avenue and its right of way (ochre), from the 1936 sale plan, and in rust today's "Cowbrook Mill": the garage building, which stands over the surviving southernmost bay of the 1801 mill (Hargreaves 2018). It is centred on that bay, with the garage range's size and direction from the 1936 plan; its exact position is approximate until the real building is measured. "1890s mill" switches off the buildings demolished by 1936. "1857" shows the site as on the Glossop Poor Law map of 1857, before the boiler house, engine house, chimney and offices were built (fitted to the 1890s map to within a few metres). The riveted steel trough is from family memory, its route approximate.
